What Excites Me?

I am from Fredericksburg, Virginia and if there’s one thing that’s defined me from an early age, it’s curiosity. Whether it was asking endless questions, exploring new hobbies, or finding creative ways to keep up with my older siblings, I was always eager to learn and compete. Growing up with two brothers and a sister meant everything was a competition for me—sports, board games, even who could tell the best joke at the dinner table. That competitive spirit shaped me into the person I am today. Someone who’s always striving for more, but in a way that’s fun, lighthearted, and never too serious.

Who is Stern?

I can certainly say it's not Barney!

I get excited by possibilities, the thrill of new opportunities, the challenge of figuring things out, and the energy of being around driven people. Whether it’s, brainstorming creative ideas, or exploring a new place, I love the feeling of pushing boundaries and learning something new. Fast paced environments keep me on my toes, and meeting people with fresh perspectives pushes my curiosity. At the end of the day what excites me most is the opportunity of what comes next.

Why Stern?

"Stern?" "Yea that's right Stern." This is how many conversations go when meeting new people. And no I am not always serious or strict, quite the opposite actually.

The reason for my name is that my family has a deep history in sailing and boating, spending many sunsets on The Toms River in New Jersey or the tropical British Virgin Islands. As the youngest of four in the family, I am otherwise known as the back of the boat, also called, the stern.

Lessons From The Water

I am a fifth generation member of Toms River Yacht Club with three generations serving as past commodore (president) of the club. Sailing means a lot to me and stretches to many aspects of my life. From navigating the wind on the water to battling life's problems, sailing represents and helped build persistence and fortitude within me today. One of my favorite quotes:

"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination" - Jimmy Buffett
