Education Through Exploration

Service Trip 2018

Partnering with a local school, I was able to immerse myself in a different culture and expand my own thinking from across the world. Throughout the 3 week trip we took part in renovating a school building to improve their classrooms. I will never forget the relationships I formed with the students there and seeing their enthusiasm for learning despite limited resources. My favorite moment of the trip was playing soccer with the kids at recess, proving that no matter the language or cultural differences, connection and friendship always find a way.

Service Trip 2019

Located just 5 miles off the coast of Turkey, Lesvos is a hub for refugees fleeing Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. I had the opportunity to assist in aiding those less fortunate, witnessing firsthand the resilience of humanity.

Here I worked at refuge center for a week distributing supplies to helping with daily needs, every moment was an eye-opening experience. I saw the impact of human kindness, and the strength of unity. It was a humbling experience that reshaped the way I view global issues and the importance of stepping outside my own world to help others.

March 2020

What was my fun fact during the Covid shutdown? I know how to navigate a glacier via snowmobile!

Iceland is easily one of the most incredible places I’ve explored. The mix of history and breathtaking landscapes makes it feel like something out of a movie. One minute, I was racing across a glacier, and the next I was relaxing in the world's largest geothermal spa, known as the Blue Lagoon. All the volcanoes, geysers, waterfalls, and glaciers makes Iceland a trip I’ll never forget.

Study Abroad 2024

In June, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad with JMU in Turkey and Greece, focusing on marketing and business operations. Throughout our travels, we explored diverse industries and unique business practices, from yacht building and aquaculture to sponge harvesting. This experience gave me a firsthand look at how commerce shapes different cultures and economies, broadening my perspective on global business.
